Great Day Improvements - Manager of Tax
As the Manager of Tax, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax compliance, reporting, and planning within the company. This role ensures the enterprise meets its tax obligations while strategically managing tax liabilities and providing insights for tax efficiency. The Manager of Tax will work closely with senior management and cross-functional teams, ensuring tax risks are properly mitigated and opportunities for tax savings are fully realized.
Pay Range (base and variable comp) $120,000 - $150,000 per year
Tax Compliance & Reporting:
o Manage preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns (corporate income tax, sales tax, property tax, etc.).
o Oversee quarterly and annual tax provisions, including calculation of tax liabilities, deferred tax assets/liabilities, and tax impacts with the assistance of the Company’s third party tax return preparers.
o Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax forms in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Tax Planning & Strategy:
o Provide recommendations on tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
o Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, advising the company on potential tax implications and opportunities.
o Work closely with internal stakeholders and the third party tax accountants to identify tax-efficient structures for business operations and transactions.
Tax Audits & Controversies:
o Manage tax audits and examinations, collaborating with external auditors and tax authorities as needed.
o Ensure the company is prepared for any tax inquiries or disputes, including managing documentation and providing supporting evidence.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
o Collaborate with other departments (e.g., legal, finance, operations) to assess the tax implications of business decisions and to ensure tax compliance.
o Advise the finance team on the tax impact of financial reporting and accounting standards.
Team Leadership:
o Lead and mentor a small team of support professionals, ensuring a high level of performance and development.
o Oversee staff performance, provide guidance, and support the professional growth of team members.
Continuous Improvement:
o Develop and implement tax policies, procedures, and controls to improve efficiency and ensure compliance.
o Review and recommend improvements in internal processes for tax reporting and documentation.
Education & Experience:
o Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
o CPA, JD, or other professional tax qualifications (preferred).
o 5+ years of experience in corporate tax, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
o Experience with federal, state, and local tax regulations and compliance.
Skills & Competencies:
o Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
o Experience with tax provision calculations, tax compliance software, and ERP systems.
o Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
o Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment and manage multiple priorities.
Working Conditions:
• Full-time, standard office hours with occasional extra hours during peak tax seasons.
